£20m Investment Brings New Holiday Park to Hemsby

Thanks to its unspoilt beaches and proximity to the seaside amusements of Great Yarmouth, Hemsby has always been popular with tourists, but over the last ten years numbers have been dwindling.

With the imminent arrival of Yarmouth’s new super casino and the millions spent on improvements to the East Coast’s resort towns, industry insiders are predicting a huge boost to the tourism economy.

Now Norfolk resort company Richardson’s, which already owns the Seacroft and Hemsby Beach holiday parks, have announced plans to pump £20million into a 10-year redevelopment plan that will see the building of a new 260-room hotel and resort.

Richardson’s general manager, Justin Ettridge, told the BBC: “We want to invest in Hemsby and show it’s a great place to come for a holiday. People’s expectations are moving higher and we want to match that. It’s a big investment… but we want to develop our accommodation which will deliver a better experience for our guests add value to the area. We want to bring new people to Hemsby and Seacroft.”

So what do you think? Will the new hotel complex be good news for Hemsby, or are Richardson’s biting off more than they can chew? We’d love to hear your views, so leave a comment below!
