On August 28th a large group of original mini’s and other classic cars, will roll into Hemsby, as part of a charity fund raiser.
Louisa Hawkins, a resident of Downham in Cambridgeshire, along with her uncle Henry Cox are organising the mass drive to the coast, in aid of the Lynn News Young Carers Appeal. Mrs Hawkins has two children, both of which attend a young carer’s group in the local area.
Charlotte and Elliot Colbourne suffer from severe learning delays and ADHD respectively, and care for each other at home. The drive hopes to raise £100,000 to help children that care for each other.
Mrs Hawkins told Lynn News, “We want to raise as much money as possible. I think the groups need the support so the kids can have a break from who they are caring for. I’m looking forward to the mini run.”
Donations are already coming in for the event, which sees the classic cars depart from Downham at 8:30 am and take a 90 mile trip to the Norfolk Seaside town of Hemsby.
Hemsby is getting ready for a bumper summer and attracts thousands of tourists each year. The classic car fund raiser is a great event, that Hemsby will no doubt welcome with open arms and help out with a great cause.
