Swimmers on the Norfolk coastline have been cautioned over the danger posed by new ‘rip currents’ plaguing the sea.

Changers to the Norfolk coast have resulted in unexpected currents appearing across the shores. The Norfolk coast swimming scene is warned to take extra caution when taking a dip in the waters.

Norfolk coast swimming is normally a very safe activity, but patrols will be crossing the beaches at Sheringham West, Cromer East, Mundesley, Sea Palling, Great Yarmouth and Gorleston until 5 July, with lifeguards also patrolling at Wells, East Runton, Sheringham East, Cromer West and Hemsby.
