Now that the sun’s shining and the weather is sweet, it’s time to head down to Hemsby to enjoy some of the unique things to see and do and soak up those rays.
Thanks to the Hemsby Rock n Roll Weekender which takes place in the autumn, Hemsby is a centre for musical life in the area, but you don’t need to wait till autumn to enjoy a rockin’ good time. Head down to the Oasis Club at 8pm on August 12 to enjoy a set from rockabilly heroes Mel Stevens and the Classics. The day after, on the 13 August, you can catch another pack of wild rockabilly wanderers in the form of the Mean Eyed Katz, who’ll be playing at the Dolphin from 21:00.
Hemsby is a place of fun and celebration, which is why every Tuesday from 26 Jul to 30 Aug, you’ll be able to take in a fantastic free fireworks display. Simply look up at 22:00 on either 2 Aug, 9 Aug, 16 Aug, 23 Aug, or the 30 Aug. If you’re spending the day with the kids in Hemsby’s fantastic arcade and entertainment centres, then this is the perfect way to end the day. If you’re looking for other things to do nearby, there’s plenty of options. From the Mega Maze at Hirsty’s Family Fun Park, which is within easy walking distance of Hemsby, to the timeless joys of a walk along Hemsby’s award-winning beaches, there’s something in Hemsby for every age group and every member of the family.
As part of the Norfolk Coastal District, Lifeboats are of vital importance to Hemsby’s culture, which means that Hemsby Lifeboat Day is one of the highlights of the calendar.
